Lathe Sessions 2: Turn a Spinning Top
This one-night intermediate session is designed for members who have completed the Lathe Sessions: Intro to Woodturning series.
Led by Maker Space member Jason Robinson, participants will learn to turn a spinning top while gaining hands-on experience with intermediate techniques - specifically, how to use a chuck to securely hold a workpiece on the lathe. This session is a fun and fast-paced way to build precision, control, and confidence in woodturning.
Open to Madjax Maker Space members who have completed the Intro to Woodturning series.
Meet your instructor: JASON ROBINSON
After studying Fine Art and Graphic Design in college, Jason Robinson stepped into a leadership role that allowed him to grow as a digital artist, leader, process improvement manager, and teacher, trainer, and mentor. While he always maintained a strong interest in the arts, his creative pursuits often took a backseat to his professional career. In 2020, like many others, he found time to explore new creative processes, which led him to discover woodturning—a craft that has captivated him ever since. Following an early retirement in 2025, Jason began turning full time and actively engaging with Muncie’s vibrant Maker community.
