TOOLSONG Gallery: Kat Peace
MadJax Maker Force presents a new exhibition in TOOLSONG Gallery featuring work by Muncie-based visual artist Kat Peace. The exhibition highlights Peace’s layered, intuitive painting style, working across acrylic and oil to explore the connection between the natural world and the inner one.
Peace’s work moves between figuration and abstraction, drawing from florals, Caribbean landscapes, and personal visual language. Their paintings reflect a deeply observational practice shaped by Caribbean heritage, a Queens, New York upbringing, and a neurodivergent perspective. The result is a body of work that resists a single interpretation, instead offering space for multiple paths, emotions, and ways of seeing.
Titled What Blooms Here: A Personal Cosmology, this exhibition brings together paintings that explore both external landscapes and internal experiences. Florals and environments are reimagined through an abstract, personal lens, while other works center neurodivergence as both subject and way of understanding the world.
Rather than following a single narrative, the exhibition holds many at once. Each piece invites viewers to slow down, look closely, and find their own entry point into the work.
Opening night takes place during Third Thursday, when MadJax Maker Force partners with the Muncie Makers Market to host an indoor night market throughout the building. Visitors are invited to explore the gallery while also enjoying local makers, food and drinks, live music, and other Third Thursday activities happening simultaneously at MadJax.
