Join us on Thursday, June 1st, to celebrate the relocation and expansion of the Design Lab in its new location! Drop in anytime from 4–9 pm to tour the lab and view equipment demonstrations. A ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Muncie-Delaware County Chamber of Commerce will be held at 4:15 pm. This event is free and open to the public.
The newly-relocated lab houses 10 3D printers, a Glowforge laser cutter, a WAZER waterjet machine, computers with a variety of design software, a sublimation printer and heat press, sewing and embroidery equipment, and much more. In the coming months, the lab will expand to include an adjacent fabrication space. Access to woodworking and metalworking equipment in that space, such as a four-axis CNC machine and a wide variety of power tools, will be included with Design Lab membership.
As a member, you'll pay a monthly fee to have access to the equipment, and materials are available at a nominal cost. Design Lab Manager Andrew Arthur and our staff of two lab techs are on hand to train and assist members with equipment and projects.
Join now through June 30 and get a special introductory rate of $25 per month for an individual membership with a one-year commitment. After June 30, the monthly individual rate will rise to $35 per month. Family and organizational memberships are also available—contact us for current pricing. As a new member, you'll need to take training courses before operating certain equipment. These courses are regularly conducted by our lab staff and are provided for all equipment at a one-time nominal cost.
In addition to memberships, we offer classes and workshops throughout the spring, summer, and fall. Check out our current summer workshop lineup at madjax.org/events. Many of these workshops are held in the Design Lab, giving you a chance to get a feel for the lab by creating a project in a structured, supportive environment. You're also welcome to make an appointment with Andrew to tour the lab before joining by emailing andrew@madjax.org with your availability.
