WOOD SHOP: BOOK SHELVES

  • Madjax Maker Force 515 East Main Street Muncie, IN, 47305 United States (map)

Learn to build your own small bookshelf while developing practical woodworking skills you can use for projects throughout your home. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll build a bookshelf designed to hold approximately 40 books while learning the fundamentals of measuring, cutting, assembling, and finishing.

More importantly, you’ll learn the basic principles of bookshelf construction so you can adapt what you’ve learned to build shelves of different sizes for your own space.

Build confidence in the wood shop and leave empowered with the skills to create sturdy, functional household pieces yourself rather than relying on mass-produced furniture.

No previous woodworking experience is required. All materials are provided, and you’ll leave with a finished bookshelf to take home.

This is $40 for members (use coupon: WOODSHOP) and $65 for guests. Space is limited. Note that this session will have a one-hour break in the middle of the session.

Meet your instructor: Samuel Lujajohnson

Samuel Lujajohnson, a family man from southern Indiana, has always had a love for woodworking. His father, a lifelong mechanic, instilled the foundations of using tools and working with his hands from an early age. Sam always enjoyed building things, and had a dedicated workshop by the time he was 12. Mostly self-taught in his adult life, he has continued to learn from other experts through local classes or online videos. Samuel is the co-founder of the custom furniture and fine art company, Oak and Ember Design LLC; partnered with his sister Maranda. With a love for teaching, and all things wood & art, Sam will look forward to leading you through your next project.
