3D MODELING WITH AUTODESK FUSION

AutoDesk Fusion is a fairly robust, free tool for personal use to start 3D modeling for functional printing, whether for tools, prototypes, or planning a project. This class will give attendees a firm grasp on the basics so that they can create their own projects.

The first session teaches the basics of 3D printing methods, picking plastic types, and what to keep in mind when designing models for printing (layer height, width, stair stepping, building to avoid supports).

The second session covers the AutoDesk software, and participants will building simple models. and the basic tools and terminology such as sketches, extruding faces, limitations on the types of surfaces.

In the third session students create models of a vase, a hinged box, and a shelf with mounting points using the tools they learned. By the end of the series, attendees will have the ability and confidence to create on their own.

This workshop is for participants 16 years of age and older and meets three Mondays (October 19, October 26, & November 2) from 6-7:30.

Meet your instructor: ISAIAH SCHEVOLA

Isaiah is a Photographer, Problem Solver, and Maker with approximate knowledge in many things. He has a Maker background in 3D modeling, small electronics, and woodworking. Isaiah earned his degree from Ball State University in IT and currently works at Ball State University in Desktop support full time while supporting members as a Design Lab Tech a few nights a week and on the weekend. When not working, he enjoys Nature, gaming (both video & cardboard), and learning new skills to add to his mental toolbox.
