The Garzas’ Hustle in Motion

Tim and Lacy Garza have never been afraid to try something new. In fact, they thrive on it.

Since 2016, the Garzas have built and rebuilt multiple businesses together, from marketing to estate sales. Their latest chapter began in 2022 with Garza Detail, a car detailing and window tinting business. The detailing side was entirely self-taught, while Tim learned the tinting trade from Gabe Tolette of Tint N Roll Mobile, a small business owner in Alexandria.

“For me, it doesn’t really matter what the thing is,” Tim said. “I love taking something from idea to reality—just building it out, figuring it out as we go.”

A Space to Grow

Garza Detail started as a mobile service. With the weather being so unpredictable, the duo needed a space where they could control the environment and take on bigger projects. That’s when they turned back to a familiar place: MadJax.

“We’d been connected to MadJax before,” Tim said. “We helped with marketing years ago and had spent time in the coworking space. It already felt like home.”

When they reached out about a garage space, the response was immediate and collaborative. The MadJax team helped them explore what was available and offered temporary solutions that allowed the business to keep moving forward while the details came together.

“That kind of flexibility and trust? You don’t find that everywhere,” Lacy said. “It made a huge difference when we were trying to get things off the ground.”

Community That Shows Up

For Tim and Lacy, MadJax isn’t just a place to work. It’s a community of people who think the same way they do.

“The people here are right up our alley,” Lacy said. “They’re problem solvers. They’re creative. They want to come together and collaborate and make things happen, and that’s rare.”

It’s not just the entrepreneurs and makers who show up with that energy. The staff do too. “They don’t shut down your ideas,” Tim said. “They help you figure out how to make them happen.”

That kind of mindset makes all the difference when you’re building something from the ground up. The MadJax team showed up for Garza Detailing in many meaningful ways, from electrical support to a glass board for cutting tint.

The Business Is the Brand

From the jump, the Garzas have approached Garza Detail with intention. Lacy designed the brand herself—colors, logo, vibe—and every part of the business has been thoughtfully built. “It’s like a flow,” she said. “From the tools we use to the order of operations, everything is mapped out and refined.”

That design mindset is deeply embedded in how they work. Before detailing, Tim and Lacy spent years focused on branding and client work. And strangely enough, all of that translated.

“It’s just like design,” Tim said. “You sketch it, flesh it out, then dial in the details. That’s exactly how we detail a car.”

Built for the Long Game

Tim and Lacy built this business for their boys. “We’re doing this for our kids,” Lacy said. “We wanted to work hard during the day and still be home to get them off the bus.”

MadJax gives them that flexibility. With a steady space and supportive environment, they’ve been able to grow the business and stay present as parents. Their sons are already helping detail bikes and asking to pitch in. “If they want to take it over one day, great,” Lacy said. “If not, we’ll teach them how to build something of their own.”

That vision extends beyond their own family. “We want to hire young people eventually,” Tim said. “Not just to teach them how to detail, but to help them figure out what they’re passionate about and how to turn it into something real. If we can help them get a few early wins, they’ll build confidence. And that can change everything.”

He added, “We’ve lost it all before. But we just keep building. Every time we start over, we get better. That’s the point.”

A Maker’s Mindset

At its core, Garza Detail is exactly the kind of story MadJax exists to support. Resourceful. Resilient. Built by people who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty. People who build their futures one idea at a time.

“We really do feel like we’re in the right place,” Lacy said. “MadJax just lets us be who we are and do what we do.”

And what they do is hustle—with heart, with vision, and with motion that never really stops.
